On 7 November 2012, the ACCC granted full interim authorisation to the applicant to give effect to the 2012 Agreements. Tabcorp, ACTTAB, and RWWA, are the sole licensed pari-mutuel wagering operators in their respective state or territory. The SuperTAB pool is a pooling arrangement which operates on a “gross pool basis” giving participants, including RWWA and ACTTAB, access to consolidated odds, whereby dividends are calculated at the conclusion of all wagering. Both RWWA and ACTTAB have previously participated in the SuperTAB pool, pursuant to authorisation granted by the ACCC in 2009 which expired on 15 August 2012. With harness racing and greyhound racing, official results and dividends are generally made available within three minutes of the race. Official results usually take no longer than ten minutes to be declared on thoroughbred races, unless a protest is lodged or race stewards need to investigate an issue concerning the race. TAB interim results are posted immediately after the conclusion of an event, but customers must wait until the 'all-clear' (known as 'Correct Weight' in thoroughbred racing) is declared before they can cash in their winning bets. Once the TAB has taken out their commission of approximately 18%, the money in the pool is divided between all the TAB customers who were successful with their wagers.Īs well as providing results and dividends for 'Win' and 'Place' wagers, the TAB also pays out dividends on exotic bet types, such as Quinella, Exacta, Trifecta, First 4, Running Double, Daily Double, Quadrella and Big 6. Conversely the runner who has attracted the least amount of money will jump at the longest odds. The runner who has had the most money wagered on it will start the favourite (the runner with the shortest odds). ![]()
